"If
you can't
love
me
at my

...then
you don't
deserve me
at my

  2. Whoa, Marilyn. Deep thought. But just how bad can the worst be and one still be loved?

  3. @MikeB - guess Marilyn didn't like being judged for being imperfect - which I think most of us are like that. If someone really loves you, they forgive you and support you when you're at your 'worst'.

  4. Sometimes ‘being at our worst’ is when something happens to us that is beyond our control .. if something happens, a really terrible intrusion in our lives – the kind of thing we don’t usually talk about in polite society, that is when you find out who your real friends and loved ones are .. when something happens to you or someone close to you that changes your life forever, there will always be people who can’t handle it – whether they subconsciously blame you for something that upsets them, or simply don’t have the emotional resources to help you through such a tragic event – they will (occasionally immediately) slip out of your life, while the true friends, those who last forever, continue to love and support .. hang on to those people, for this kind of love is real, and they deserve us when we are back to our best, that stronger and better ‘best’ .. all the best to you MikeB .. and bless you Stephanie for your continued encouragement (what, you're imperfect too! Hmmm) .. namaste ..{;o)

  5. @KW- thank you. You are astute, insightful, and completely spot-on in your explaination. And in truth- it's the very reason that Monroe's quote resonated with me, and why I posted this. thanks so much for taking the time to write it.

  6. Marilyn NEVER said this people, I don't know where it comes from, but I guess this is the bad side of internet...

  7. Miss MM - thanks for your comment! Firstly, allow me to show the entire quote - instead of the edited version I used for the purpose of this post, (so well commented upon by Kevin Wallace(aka KW)!)
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure.
I make mistakes, am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
I don't like incorrect quote attribution myself, but I find this quote a bit in depth to not be able find any other person claim title to it. That being said- there are others who agree with you. (but none of them can offer up the true author either.)
There is something about this quote (or shall I say 'phrase') which seems to irritate as many as those it appeals to. To elucidate,
take a fun little jaunt through a post on this quote - and all the comments reflecting all the interpretations and reactions to it - over at The Elephant Journal, written (surprisingly, somewhat judgementally, IMO) by Waylon Lewis himself.
    (http://www.elephantjournal.com/author/waylon/) I hope you enjoy...
