Lakota Instructions for Living

Friend do it this way - that is,
whatever you do in life,
do the very best you can with both your heart and mind.

And if you do it that way,
the Power Of The Universe will come to your assistance,
if your heart and mind are in Unity.

When one sits in the Hoop Of The People,
one must be responsible because
All of Creation is related.
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all.
And the honor of one is the honor of all.
And whatever we do effects everything in the universe.

If you do it that way - that is,
if you truly join your heart and mind as One -
 whatever you ask for,
that's the Way It's Going To Be.

  1. Ahhh Stephanie .. this reminds me of my time in South Dakota, and the life lessons I have carried with me since then - if only more would listen and heed the call for unity between mind and heart, for balance is achieved when we live in harmony with ourselves and our dreams and needs, with each other and common purpose, and with the power of nature and our place in the universe .. thanks for tugging at the heartstrings and playing some soulful music .. 2. Thanks so much Kevin! Happy to know it resonates! And I SO very much agree with your insightful comment.
I have never been to the Dakotas, but I did work with a Native American Rights group when I was younger, and met those living at Pine Ridge and Rosebud, and was forever changed by it.
The respect of all life, the respect of the earth and integral body-mind-spirit connection is present in almost all of the the Native Tribes cultures.
The lessons are available for anyone that's ready to listen.
