Lifestyle: Leonard Cohen Lets The Light In

"The birds they sing
At the break of day
‘Start again,’
I heard them say.
‘Don’t dwell on what
has passed away
And what is yet to be ..."

~Leonard Cohen,  from 'Anthem'

I came across this song again recently,
thinking the lyrics would be an appropriate thought
to share for the New Year.

In reading them again,
I realized
that they are for all time,
relevant,
timeless.
Take from them what you can,
and I hope they resonate with you
as they have with me.

  1. Yes, live in the moment.

Happy New Year to you, Stephanie.

I love Leonard Cohen, his poems, his music, his singing. I have his SELECTED POEMS, 1965-1968, in the Bantam Books paperback edition published in 1971. I think I bought it in 1971 or 1972.

As with most of my poetry books (and I have many), and including Cohen's, I pick up one now and then and read only some of the poems therein. A few poetry books I have read all the way through.

I have been very busy with personal matters, including helping many family members in need of help, but I will visit once in a while and leave short comments when I can.

  2. Happy New Year to you too, MikeB!

Yes, I did not appreciate him as much until the past decade. He is now coming close to his 90's, and still singing & writing (and still famously reclusive)

Best wishes for your family. Be 'in the moment' while helping them, and you both will benefit.
    Till next time!
