ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that MikeB! Most people do not know of her. But she was not only a gifted singer, but she also was an unsung hero for civil rights! (pun not intended...but I'm going with it!) ;-)

ReplyDelete@MikeB - cool! Did you ever get to hear her in person? I think there is nothing quite so exciting as listening to them singing live.
ReplyDeleteI never did. But she did have a lovely home in Connecticut, (where I grew up after NYC) and she was quite the local celebrity!
I never heard her in person, but at least I heard her sing on one or more TV broadcasts.
