Fav Quote Friday | Body and Spirit: The Persistance Of Chaos

"Out of chaos the future emerges in
harmony and beauty.'
~Emma Goldman

"There must be chaos to give birth to a dancing star."

~Friedrich Nietzsche

I believe chaos to be like the storms and sunny days;
they come and go, but they are part of our world.

Although often a difficult time, the way it mixes things up,
it can open our eyes and hearts to things we'd otherwise miss.

  1. You must enjoy philosophy. My mind is in such chaos right now that I am unable to focus on your question. Thanks for the thought provoking post, even though I can't come up with any thoughts right now.

  2. MikeB - I'm sorry to know you are in that state right now. I do like philosphy - but that's not why I like this quote. It's because when my mind was in chaos, I found this quote made me realize that even chaos is part of the process and the journey towards better things, and that was a comforting thought to me.
But perhaps what might be a better one for you tonight is a quote of stillness...
This quote is a question that is not really a question; it's a directive challenging you to calm and control your mind:
    "Do you have the patience
to wait until your mud settles
    and your water is clear?
    Can you remain unmoving
until the right action arises by itself?"
    ~Lao Tzu
I wish you well and hope you soon feel more calm!

  3. Wow, just the right quote at the right time. Thank you! YES, I do have the patience. Patience is one thing I do have, and it comes pretty easily to me. Part of that is lowering my expectations about other people. I typically take things at face value and do not ascribe ulterior motives or inconsiderate thinking to others. I just take things as they come. The only person whose actions and attitudes I can control are my own. It is the recent, quick, and unexpected death of my wife's brother that has thrown things into disarray here. What a loss, last month and continuing until now and for who knows how long. Thank you for your kind thoughts, Stephanie.
