Fav Quote Friday | Simple Pleasures: Thoughts Of Springtime

"And Spring arose on the garden fair,
like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere..."
 ~Percy Bysshe Shelley

When I was growing up, my Mom would award a candy treat
to whoever was lucky enough to spot the first Robin in early Spring.
It was the signal that Spring had arrived, regardless of
what the the weather or the calendar said.
These days, I love hearing the first chirps of the
finches and mockingbirds and seeing the
first daffodills, crocus and tulips bloom.
And occasionally, I still report to my Mom
of an early Robin-spotting, happy to
share the hope of warmer weather.

What's your favorite sign of Spring's arrival?

  1. What a nice tradition -- the first Robin sighting. I bet your mom loves it when you report seeing a Robin early.

  3. How wonderful. We used to have trees in our backyard, but do not have them any longer. When we had them, we had several bird feeders hanging from them. Between the leaves on the trees and the bird feeders, we would get visitors flying in -- hummingbirds, Oregon juncos, sparrows, and a few others. I especially liked the hummingbirds.
